  • This Sloka could be from the Mudgal Purana. The Sloka means ‘O Ganesha of the curved trunk and massive body and whose splendour is equal to a million Suns, bless me so that I do not have any obstacles in my work.’

  • Purana means 'old' or ancient'. Most of Hindu literature can be found in the Puranas.

  • Vishnu is the Preserver God in Hinduism and Garuda is his Mount.

  • King Krishnadevaraya was a king of the Vijayanagara Empire in the Deccan Plateau of South India. It is rumoured that the Vijayanagara Empire was so wealthy during the times of its zenith, that the traders used to carry gems and precious stones in baskets and sell them in the open market.
