However, Queen Asokavati was adamant and she began to get angry that Gunasarma could even think of refusing her advances. Gunasarma realized this immediately so he changed tracks. “Devi, if you insist, I will fall in line with your plans. You say that the king is powerless to cross you and that he will never be able to go against you no matter what you do. I will take your word for it. But please wait for some time. Wait for some time until I know that the time is right after that we shall go what you want.”
Queen Asokavati was satisfied and Gunasarma went his way.
Meanwhile, back to the king, the monarch had many enemies. Many of them try to attack the king through devious means. But Gunasarma was always by the side of the king and had saved him several times.
With Gunasarma's help, King Mahasena had defeated all of his enemies and he was happy.
When the danger from the enemies was over, Asokavati began to press Gunasarma to fulfill what he had said.
Finally, Asokavati realized that Gunasarma had no intention of ever fulfilling her desire.
Angrily, the queen spread a rumour that Gunasarma had tried to violate her honour. This time the queen turned the table against Gunasharma and said that the food poisoning incident was actually a means by which Gunasarma had silenced the servant who had actually seen Gunasarma misbehave with the Queen. The Queen was very believable in her story and she also brought in the king of the Gaudas with Gunasarma to bring down the king of Ujjain.
The foolish king Mahasena believed her version of the events.
