The second time after the princess went missing, the boy realized that the princess had hid herself for the second time. He went to his horse for advice.
Dapplegrim nodded at him. “Take the biggest knife that you can find and go to the dining table and cut the third loaf of bread from the left. You will find the princess.”
The boy did not understand, but he never lost faith in Dapplegrim and did as he was told.
The princess had indeed turned into the loaf of bread this time and she had hidden herself among the other loaves and when the boy came to cut into the bread, the princess turned into her own form and pleaded with the boy not to kill her.
It was the boy’s turn to hide himself and he had learnt a lot of magic from Dapplegrim. The boy turned to a tick and hid himself on Dapplegrim’s face.
The princess came to the stable and looked at the horse, but looking at the huge horse which snorted loudly, the princess was afraid to go any closer.
That was the reason that the princess could not find the boy the first time.
The second time, the boy changed into a small speck of mud and stayed under the hoof of Dapplegrim.
This time the princess came into the stable, but she could not look under the hooves of the horse because it was huge.
So the princess failed to find the boy for the second time too.
This time, the king could think of nothing more and so he agreed to the marriage of the boy and the princess.
So the boy married the princess and lived with her happily for the rest of his life.
