The Dragon mother was very pleased with the manners of the prince. However she still needed to test the prince.
“If you wish to work for me you must take my mare out of the meadow. You have to look after my mare for three days.” The Dragon mother looked grave. “If you don't bring my mare home safely every evening we will eat you up.”
The prince agreed to this and he found a mare in the meadow and led it out.
However no sooner had the prince and the mare reached the grass the mare vanished.
The Prince searched everywhere and could not find the mare anywhere.
When he was lost in thought about where he could find the mare he saw an eagle flying over his head.
That was when he remembered the witch who had started all this. He pulled out the little bell from his pocket and rang it once.
There was a huge rustling sound and the prince saw the king of the eagles come before him.
The Prince did not need to tell the Eagle anything.
“I know who you are and how you came across the bell. You are now looking for Mother Dragon's mare. The Mother Dragon’s mare is galloping among the clouds. I will get all the eagles and ask them to find the mare and bring her to you.”
